Ulvik

At the innermost point of the beautiful Hardangerfjord lies the charming village of Ulvik. This peaceful place makes a great starting point if you want to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, nature strolls or guided excursions around the fjord. But it’s not all peace and quiet! There is also a thriving cultural scene in Ulvik with exhibitions, concerts and lively traditions all waiting to be discovered by you. Eidfjord

Between the soaring, spectacular mountains and the sea lies Eidfjord. This village may be small but it offers a wide range of activities and experiences, all amid breathtaking scenery. Why not take a trip on the Troll Train? This road-going ‘train’ is a colourful and fun way to see some of the sights around the village, and it’s sure to be an experience that children of all ages will love! Or you could enjoy Måbødalen and enjoy a wide-variety of beautiful, striking natural attractions such as mountains and waterfalls. There are also spectacular roads, truly amazing feats of engineering, some of which are 400 years old. Øystese

 The small village of Øystese overlooks the Hardangerfjord and all its splendid scenery. The village makes a great place from which to explore, especially for those interested in mountain walks. Or why not take a fascinating glimpse into one of Norway’s most important industries, fish farming? Fyksesund Hardanger Akvasenter is the first visitor centre of its kind, far out on the fjord. After a boat ride to get there, learn all about the salmon that is enjoyed by diners the world over, even as far away as Japan. Meanwhile, at Hardanger Museum Wharf in nearby Kvam, you can see into the boatbuilding traditions of the area courtesy of this fascinating, working museum, with a host of different activities for the whole family to enjoy. Experiencing majestic nature is what it’s all about when you visit Voss and Oppheim. Voss is a legendary destination of outdoor sports enthusiasts both in summer and winter, and Oppheim is a great place from which to explore the area.
